The Orange Trees in Silence
The Night Funtain
Introduction
This artwork presents an inner courtyard bathed in nocturnal light, where traditional architecture, fruit trees, and the central fountain come together to create a silent, refined, and deeply atmospheric scene.
Visual and Symbolic Interpretation
The composition is organized around an octagonal fountain placed at the center of the courtyard, whose dark water reflects the bluish tones of the floor. Around it, several trees with dense foliage bear orange fruits, adding warm accents to a palette dominated by deep blues, shaded greens, weathered whites of the walls, and the browns of the wood. The upper galleries, carved balustrades, tall doors, and roof sections create an ascending perspective toward an opening of star-filled sky.
The light appears to come from above, filtered through the roof structure and projected as geometric shadows across the façades and paving stones. The surfaces appear weathered and aged: peeling plaster, darkened wood, irregular tiles, and water reflections give the composition a living texture. The atmosphere is calm, almost suspended; the courtyard becomes a space of contemplation where the fountain evokes inner balance, while the fruit-laden trees suggest the discreet presence of life at the heart of the darkness.
